After leading his team to a pair of blowout victories at home over the holidays, Oredigger senior captain Asa Williams has picked up accolades from the Frontier Conference and Erck Hotels.  The following is a release from the Montana Tech Athletic Department:

HELENA, Mont.- The first Erck Hotels Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award for 2024 goes to Asa Williams of the Montana Tech Orediggers.

Williams averaged 20 points per game as the Orediggers wrapped up their non-conference schedule with wins over Lakeside College, and Ambrose University.

In the win over Lakeside, Williams led all scorers with 23 points on 7 of 15 shooting. He was a blistering 6 for 10 from the three-point line in the victory. Adding to that, Williams was 3 for 4 from the foul line, he had one rebound, one assist, and two steals. In the 96-63 win, Williams only logged 27 minutes.

The next afternoon in a 127-44 win over Ambrose University, Williams put up 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting. He was 2 for 6 from the arc and 3 for 3 from the stripe.  He also added two steals, one rebound, and one assist in 27 minutes on the floor.

Williams, a senior from Solon, Ohio, enters the Frontier Conference regular season opener this weekend averaging 18 points per game. The Orediggers open the conference season by hosting  the No.15 Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears this Saturday at Kelvin Sampson Court in the HPER. The women tip off at 2 p.m. and the men follow at 4 p.m.

The Rocky men earlier this year defeated the Montana State University Bobcats at Worthington Arena in Bozeman, 70-62.
