No tax on tips. No tax on social security income. Montana's US Senator Steve Daines was at the White House with President Trump celebrating the passage of what's been called the "One Big Beautiful Bill."

Senator Daines: “Great evening at the White House today (Friday) with President Trump and my Senate colleagues. I’m proud of everyone’s hard work to get this historic legislation across the finish line and grateful that Donald Trump is our President. There are massive wins for Montana in the Big Beautiful Bill, and we’re just getting started."

Here is a list sent out by Senator Daines' office highlighting just SOME of the wins for Montana included in the bill:

  • 22,000 Montana jobs protected
  • 200,000 Montana seniors benefiting from No Tax on Social Security
  • Nearly $3,000 in savings for average Montana family
  • No sale of public lands
  • Bull Mountains Mine near Roundup will stay open
  • Requires timber sales on Forest Service & BLM land (increasing Montana’s board feet to approx. 250 million)
  • Requires on shore gas leasing in Montana
  • Eliminates $200 excise tax on short barreled rifles & shotguns
  • Sets aside $50 billion to fund rural hospitals
  • Expands telehealth access for Montanans

Click here and you can find more Montana specific information on what is included in the BBB. According to a Trump White House fact sheet:

CEA finds that the OBBB will raise wages in Montana by an inflation-adjusted range of about $3400 to $6100 over the next four years. A typical family with two children in Montana can expect to see higher take-home pay of about $7000 to $9900 with OBBB compared to if it was not passed. Around 4% of the labor force is employed in occupations that would likely benefit from the no taxes on tips provision of the OBBB. Around 200 thousand seniors in Montana could benefit from the no taxes on social security provision of the OBBB.

Here's what else is really cool about the no tax on tips being passed at the federal level. It will also apply to state taxes in Montana as well.
