Check out these temperatures across about half of the state of Montana. 65 degrees in Red Lodge. 76 in Livingston. 77 in Billings and Baker. And these are just the forecasted highs for Monday.

There was so much flooding in Billings, Montana over the weekend that people were fishing on Shiloh Road. The National Weather Service (NWS) says Billings is already up to at least 4 inches of rain for the month of June, even though we are only 4 days in.

We're all smoked out up here in the Flathead. What's going on? Same deal for Kelly in Glasgow. Then I looked out our studio windows in Billings- yep, looks like the whole state is smoked out.

The incredible staff at the World Museum of Mining have always been a determined crew! Unfortunately, this season they're level of determination has been tested by the fact that they may not be able to open their doors to the public in a few days as planned. The factor getting in the way? The weather! It didn't matter that the first day of Spring was March 20th. No, old man winter has his claws dug in deep and it's hard to tell when he'll let go. But, I'll say it again...the World Museum of Mining is determined. Yes, in true form, organizers are working hard to get the museum as ready as possible for the proposed April 1st opening date by conducting training, scheduling and routine cleaning. As we know all too well, the cold temperatures have made snow removal very difficult in many areas around town, and this includes the grounds at the World Museum of Mining. Now that the snow has stopped bombarding the state for a few days after the pre-Christmas arctic plunge, I wanted to take some time to look back at a cool conversation I had with Montana Department of Transportation Director Mack Long.

While many prepare for holiday travel, like clockwork, Montana weather conditions remain uncooperative. If you're from Montana, it's just expected. You know the drill; old man winter is in a mood and wants us all to suffer with extreme snowfall and wind chill factors ten times colder than any kitchen freezer. Yes, I'm playing the world's smallest violin right now, and for good reason. Even though we all know what to expect when winter rolls around in Montana, it's still the main topic when chiming in with locals. Griping about the weather is part of the fun and, furthermore, all part of the challenge. Montanans love a good challenge, and with that, we again embrace putting old man winter in his place. That's right ol' man...we got this!
