Democrat Congressional candidate Monica Tranel is flip-flopping on the southern border debate, according to a report by Fox News that analyzed her remarks from the 2022 campaign to her 2024 campaign ads.

Tranel lost to Montana Congressman, former Trump Interior Secretary, and retired Navy Commander Ryan Zinke (R-MT01) in the 2022 election for Montana's Western Congressional district. She is now challenging Zinke for that same seat in the 2024 election.

In the 2022 elections, Tranel denied that the invasion of illegal aliens through our southern border was causing the drug and crime epidemic here in Montana. Here's what she said back in 2022:

Tranel: "I've talked to the DEA agents here. I've done ride alongs with law enforcement across this district, and it is a significant issue where we are, but where it's coming from is not the southern border. It's being made in China. And how it's getting here is a complex series of things that are happening, and shutting down the border is not going to reduce the Fentanyl crisis."

Tranel is now flip-flopping on the border in a new campaign ad, according to Fox News.

"Trainwreck Tranel is talking tough on the border now that it’s an election year, but Montanans know she will work directly under the Harris-Walz banner to unleash more crime and border chaos on Montanans while also supporting boys to play in girls sports," Madison Atkinson, Montana GOP spokesperson, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

By the way, this story caught my eye as it was getting national attention last week, but I figured I would wait to talk more about the story until after we got a chance for Tranel to respond to the news. She was scheduled to join us on the radio Wednesday morning, but we got an e-mail from her staff the night before saying that she had to cancel the interview due to a family emergency.
