JST US delivers at Uptown Butte’s first ‘Lunch in the Park’ of the summer
All of the food served to the crowd at the summer's first Lunch in the Park at Emma Park may have been walkup only, but it was JST Us delivering some incredible music earlier today as the popular summer series of lunch and music on Wednesdays began its 2023 season.
JST Us may not be the loudest band in Butte but what they lack in oversized power amps, effects pedals and mixing boards, they more than make up for with their tightness, harmonies and song selection. Flowing seamlessly from a Beatles tune to a Keith Urban number and even a Night Ranger song thrown in for good measure, JST Us kept the lunchtime crowd entertained while the kids enjoyed the return of the "famous foam machine" courtesy of Selena Pankovich and the M&M, while all enjoyed a good variety of food from local vendors.
Chief Executive J.P. Gallagher was on hand for the festivities and said that while the turnout was good, people need to realize that Lunch in the Park is back and to take advantage of it. "It's a lot like Music on Main, people have to realize that it's back and that it's a good time," Gallagher said. As far as the event's return this summer, Gallagher tipped his hat to a couple of city departments. "I've got to give credit to the Parks and Rec Department and the Butte Parks and Trails Foundation. This is all their doing-getting this going and keeping it going," Gallagher stated, adding with a smile, "It's a good time. It's fantastic."
The director of the BSB Parks and Recreation Department is Bob Lazzari and the event coordinator is Ed Heard. Members of the Park and Recreation Board are Philip Borup, Keegan McCarthy, Chuck Merrifield, Ristene Hall and Cathy Tutty.
Lunch in the Park will return to Emma Park next Wednesday with the incredibly talented Juniper Creek.
