The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that the Orediggers of Montana Tech would be one of the 16 host sites where the first and second-round games of the National Championship, presented by Ballogy, would be played. Montana Tech also hosted first and second-round games a year ago, the first time in school history. The Orediggers are the No. 3 seed in the Naismith Quadrant and will play the 14th seed Pioneers from Wayland Baptist. The other matchup in Butte has the 11th-seeded Warriors of Lewis Clark State taking on the 6-seed Hope International (California).

For the better part of the night it was the Orediggers vs. the Argos in a couple of key Frontier Conference games Thursday night at Kelvin Sampson Court, but at least for a couple of minutes it was the Eagles vs. the Wildcats. Some of Butte's differently-abled athletes from East Middle School were able to show their stuff in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd in a pair of spirited scrimmages played at the halftimes of the Tech men's and women's games.

The Southwest Montana All Star Classic is ready for it's 12th showcasing of some of the best players our region Tuesday night at Kelvin Sampson Court at the Montana Tech HPER complex.

Basketball fans will have some of the best basketball in our region at our very fingertips this week. Almost all week long.

In a game that would see a lead of no larger than eight points throughout 40 minutes of regulation, it was missed free-throw opportunities by Montana Tech that would force an overtime period against Carroll College. And it was a shooting clinic from the foul line and beyond that the Orediggers would put on in overtime to seal an 87-78 Frontier Conference victory and the regular season conference title.

Just weeks after the 2022 Men's Basketball team raised their championship banner from last spring, the Oredigger Women's Track and Field team added their own to the rafters last night over Kelvin Sampson Court in the HPER complex.
