A while back on the radio, David Knobel and I were talking about what life was life back in the day as 80s and 90s kids. A comedian at Nate Bargatze's recent shows in Montana made a similar point...

David grew up in Manhattan, Montana. I grew up in the early days going back and forth between my dad's in the Flathead, and my mom's in Glasgow.

David had a great line about how you always knew which house the kids were at based on the number of bikes in the yard. And back then you stayed outside playing typically until the porch lights turned on!

That reminded me of a great photo that I think my Grandpa Ron took and used in the Glasgow Courier back in the day of me and some of the neighbor kids in my grandparents driveway. (That's me in the lowrider trike in the background)

By the way, David Knobel shared a photo of him riding his bike in Manhattan as a kid. Check out this cool photo with the Bridgers in the background:

My wife and I got to attend Nate Bargatze's comedy show in Missoula recently, and one of his great opening acts also talked about life in the 80s and how you knew where the kids were at based on the bikes in the yard.

By the way, apparently Nate's appearance in Missoula was his first ever show in Montana...and Montana is officially the last of the 50 states that he has performed in. When Bargatze made the announcement, one guy shouted out- "The Last Best Place!"

For those who aren't familiar with Nate Bargatze, here's what the Metra in Billings put out once it was announced that his show tour was coming to Montana:

Hailed as “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up,” by The Atlantic Magazine, and “One of the Funniest People,” by CBS Mornings, Grammy & Emmy-nominated comedian, NY Times #1 bestselling author, podcaster, director and producer Nate Bargatze is selling out shows and breaking venue attendance records with more than 1.2 million tickets sold in 2024. He is currently the #1 earning comedian in the world according to Pollstar’s recent report, and #12 in overall live tour tickets sales, putting him in the company of Coldplay, Madonna and U2. Billboard recently announced that Bargatze set a new record for the biggest one-year gross by a comedy performer in history.  He is currently on his 2025 Big Dumb Eyes World Tour and continuing to break venue attendance and ticket records. Most recently, Nate will be hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14th on CBS.

You can watch his comedy specials on Netflix, and he even has a movie coming out soon. "On the silver screen, Bargatze will soon star in the family-friendly comedy, The Breadwinner, for TriStar Pictures which he co-wrote with Dan Lagana."
