If you have a kid that aspires to one day venture into space, they should know about this Montana resident.

Many kids dream of growing up and becoming an astronaut, exploring space, and discovering what could be out there. Space is a frontier that few people have been able to explore, and the past few decades have been limited to mostly orbiting Earth.

The astronauts that NASA has sent into space go through an intense workout and trial to be qualified for a space mission. That's why we were thrilled to learn that a former Montana resident is part of a new mission to the moon.

CNN reports that four astronauts have been selected to be a part of the Artemis Two mission to head to the moon. This mission will be the first time NASA has sent a spacecraft toward the moon in over 50 years.

One of the astronauts heading for the flyby of the moon is Christina Koch. Christina resided in Livingston, Montana, for years until she was selected for the astronaut program.

Christina was in the news recently for the longest single spaceflight by a woman at 328 in space and participated in the first-ever all-female spacewalk. She's an astronaut that every Montanan child should look up to if they want to become an astronaut.

Christina spent quite a bit of time in recent years helping at Montana State University and enjoying all the outdoor activities Montana has to offer.

The Artemis Two isn't heading to the moon until 2024, but we can't wait to see this Montana resident represent our state and head into space.
