It's where the local hardware store is located, it's where the barbershop is, and chances are, there's a movie theater there that hasn't been updated in a few decades. Yep, if you're a fan of nostalgia, you can't do much better than the downtown area of any small town.
Here in Montana, we have several downtowns that are worth checking out. While some might be a little more busy than others, they all have something to offer, whether it's a fun and funky shop, or just a stroll down memory lane.
Downtowns represent a simpler life. For some of you reading this, there was a time when we didn't communicate by text and social media. We took a shower, got dressed in real clothes, and left the house to see our friends, go shopping, or have a nice meal out.
Downtowns were the hub of the community.
You would run into people you knew and you could catch up on the latest gossip while standing in the produce aisle of the local supermarket, or you might run into so and so while shopping at the local sporting goods store for the upcoming youth sports season.
