It's no secret that Montanans enjoy a drink or five.

But what might surprise you is that three Montana cities have landed on a list of the Drunkest Cities in America.

Before we get into which Montana cities made the list, let's take a look at some of the numbers.

According to Google, Montana is home to around 120 breweries and roughly 25 distilleries. And when it comes to beer consumption, Montana ranks near the top nationally.

Montanans also have no shortage of places to grab a drink. There are roughly 1,600 bars across Big Sky Country.

So, with all that beer, booze and bar hopping, it's probably not shocking that a few Montana cities showed up on a list of America's drunkest cities.

Where Are the Drunkest Cities in Montana?

Let's start with Billings.

According to the list, Billings comes in at No. 21 among the drunkest cities in America. Not only is Billings Montana's largest city, apparently it also ranks pretty high when it comes to raising a glass.

But Billings isn't even the highest-ranking Montana city.

That honor goes to Great Falls.

Great Falls comes in at No. 14 on the list. The city has a long blue-collar history, a major military presence and, apparently, plenty of people who aren't afraid to enjoy a cold beer after a long day.

But there's still one Montana city ahead of both of them.

And this one might surprise you.

Missoula Is Apparently the 2nd Drunkest City in America

Yep. Missoula.

According to the list, Missoula ranks No. 2 among the drunkest cities in America.

Second!

Maybe it's all those years of losing to the Bobcats.

Maybe it's the college crowd.

Or maybe Missoulians just really, really like beer.

I'll let you decide.

Of course, there's one HUGE question that needs to be asked:

How Did Butte NOT Make the List?

Seriously.

Butte?

How does Butte not make a list of America's drunkest cities?

I'm not saying Butte should be No. 1...

I'm just saying I'd like to see the methodology.

Even plenty of Butte residents would probably tell you that if you're looking for a Montana town that knows how to enjoy a drink, you shouldn't overlook the Mining City.

So what do you think?

Is Missoula really the 2nd drunkest city in America?

And more importantly...

How in the world did Butte get left off the list?
