While Montanans do enjoy a drink, bars aren't just for drinking. It's a place to get together and catch up with local folks. How are the crops this year? Did you hear about so and so? How do you think the Cats will do this year? All common questions you've heard at hundreds of bars across Big Sky Country.

Then there are the bars themselves. While some are more historic than others, they all have their own story. One bar in particular has one of the most interesting stories out there.

One of those is a bar with a history well over 100 years old. The Livingston Bar and Grille is a fantastic place to grab a drink and enjoy a delicious meal.

The Bar features a lunch and dinner menu along with an impressive drink menu to please anyone. Located in the heart of downtown Livingston, it's not just the food and drinks that make the Livingston Bar and Grille such a special place. It's the actual bar itself.

What is so special about the bar at Livingston Bar and Grille?

The Livingston Bar and Grille recently posted the history of their actual back bar on the Facebook page and what a history it is.  The bar was created in France and was carved out of African Mahogany in the late 19th century. From there, the bar was featured at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis before being shipped up the Missouri River to Fort Benton, before arriving in Livingston.

One of the things so interesting about that is the fact that much of what was part of the Worlds Fair that year was used in other places. Many St. Louis locals went and stole the wood used in different buildings and exhibits to build their homes after the Fair had come to an end.

For those curious about seeing the bar, or if you're just looking for a place to have a bite to eat and a drink, check out the Livingston Bar and Grille. They're open 7 days a week and located at the corner of Park and Main in downtown Livingston.
