This year marks the 5th year the famous national park requires prior vehicle reservations between June 13th through September 28th in attempts to mitigate overcrowding. Gone are the days of showing up at the gate and having a hassle-free drive on the Going-to-the-Sun Road or North Fork.
To enter Glacier National Park, you always need to have either a Park Pass or pay the entrance fee. From June 13th to September 28th, if you plan to visit Going-to-the-Sun Road (Apgar entrance) or the North Fork (for Bowman and Kintla lakes) between 7 AM and 3 PM, you will need a vehicle reservation.
Cheat Code for the Procrastinators
If you don't happen to read this article in time to make your early reservations or you missed your blocked time... You can still enter vehicle reservation areas IF you make it to the entrance before 7 AM or after 3 PM.
Also, there is no reservation needed if you want to come from the east side at St. Mary's. BUT if you want to go back the way you came, visitors will not be able to go back through the Apgar checkpoint without a block time.
When Can You Make Reservations?
Starting February 12th, at 8 AM MST, the park will open a portion of vehicle reservations. Every day after that, they will continue to roll out availability.
Beginning June 12th, at 7 PM MDT, next-day reservations will be available on a daily rolling basis.
