I think it’s %100 safe to say, that Tech-Carroll did not disappoint.

The #11 Saints of Carroll College took down the lady Diggs 60-48, in a game that the Orediggers led the entire first half. Tech played incredibly hard, and Carroll made big plays when they had to, I feel this game was a great reminder that anyone can win on any floor, on any night.

Aubrie Rademacher was a monster last night, going 5 for 6 from the floor, she finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Tavia Rooney and McKayla Kloker both put 8 points in the book. This Oredigger team is incredibly fun to watch play.

Saturday’s opponent will be the Argos of the University of Providence. Providence rolls into Butte 11-5 overall, and 1-2 in conference play. Their win in conference was over Northern, 66-59 on December 1. That same weekend they fell 48-46 to Rocky in Billings. On Thursday night they fell in Dillon 79-49 in an emotionally charged Straugh Gymnasium. Brooklyn Harn was the leading scorer for the Argos on Thursday, netting 11 points. On the season Harn averages 8 a game. The Argos have 3 ladies who are averaging in double digits, Maddy Dixon, and Reed Hazard both average 11 points, and McKenna Reggear gets 10 a game. Historically, Providence has some tremendous shooters, and Thursday was just not their night. They shot 30% from the floor, and 20% from the arc for the game.

The Oredigger men’s game against Carroll was the opposite of a cold shooting night. Carroll shot 48% as a team, and 65% (11-17) from the 3, and lost. The Orediggers were just as hot, shooting 51% for the game, and 56% (10-18) from the arc. It was insane.

With the win on Thursday, the Diggs pushed their overall record to 14-2, and 2-1 in Frontier play. Coach Adam Hiatt played 11 different Orediggers in this game.

Coach Keller and the Argos are 2-1 in conference play, and 8-8 overall. Providence enters Saturday coming off a 74-73 win over Western in Dillon. Three of the Argo’s starters rolled into double digits, led by Marcus Stephens with 24, Davien Harris-Williams put down 18, and Sam Vining finished with 10.

The Argos are a different team with Marcus Stepens and Davien Harris-Williams back in the line-up. Both have just 3 games under their belt this season, and they each average 21 points a game, so far. Kenny Curtis is getting 14 a game this year, and Eric Milner is averaging 13 a game.

Talking to Oredigger head coach Adam Hiatt earlier this week, he stressed to me that regular season records can be tossed out the window. Conference wins are all that matter now. There is so much parity on the men’s side that every win is incredibly important. There won’t be a huge gap between the winner of the conference and the team on the bottom. This I promise you.

Montana Tech and the University of Providence will have a twin-bill Saturday afternoon at the Great Western HYPR, women at 2 pm, men at 4 pm. See you there.
