A fresh artistic voice will take center stage in  Uptown Butte this month as local photographer Shay Dehart is featured as the June Artist of the Month at the Covellite, 215 W. Broadway.

The public is invited to meet Dehart during a free artist reception o Friday, June 5, from 5pm to 7pm as part of the Uptown Butte Art Walk.  The exhibition marks Shay's first public showing and offers visitors an opportunity to experience a unique perspective on the landscapes, history and everyday moments that shape life in Butte and in Montana.

Based here in the Mining City, Dehart has long been drawn to photography as a way of documenting the world through a different lens.  Dehart's work focuses on subjects that many pass by without a second glance, be it weathered textures, historic sites, Butte's iconic gallows frames and even quiet scenes that reveal unexpected beauty when viewed through the right angle.

Rather than simply capturing an image, Dehart's photographs encourage viewers to show down and look more closely.  Each piece reflects a deep curiosity about the stories hidden in ordinary places and a desire to highlight the details that often go unnoticed.

The collection showcases a range of images rooted in atmosphere, emotion and perspective.  Familiar scenes are transformed into something new, inviting viewers to reconsider places and moments that they encounter every day.

For Shay, photography is about finding meaning in the overlooked and preserving fleeting moments before they disappear.  That approach is evident throughout the exhibition, which blends artistic vision with a strong appreciation for Butte's unique history, character and surrounding landscapes.

The June Artist of the Month exhibition offers a chance to discover an emerging local talent while supporting the vibrant arts community that continues to grow locally. Admission to the reception is free and community members are encouraged to stop by, meet the artist and explore the collection.
