The Butte High girls were on the road to battle Sentinel in Western AA action last Friday. In addition to that, the  Freshman girls also took on the Mustangs of Ennis in a non-conference matchup.

Let’s start with the Varsity matchup against a very good Missoula Sentinel team. Sentinel entered the game 6-2 overall, and 3-1 in Western AA play. Their only conference loss coming against the Hellgate Knights on Jan 13th.  On the season they are led by CC Size averaging 15 points, Emily McElmurry at 13, and Olivia Huntsinger getting 10 points a game.

A strong opening quarter had the Dogs down by 1, 11-10, after 8 minutes of play. Entering the second quarter the Spartans pressure started to become an issue for the Bulldogs, as Butte High was held to 3 points in the second quarter. The biggest number for the Dogs was turnovers, with 22 overall. The girls continued to battle throughout, but just couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole. With the loss, the Bulldogs are 0-5 in Conference, and 1-7 overall.
