Shakespeare in the Parks to perform all across Southwest Montana in late summer
"All the world's a stage, and the men and women merely players," William Shakespeare famously wrote in Act II of "As You Like It" back in the year 1599. Here in the year 2024, the literal stage will be set across several Southwest Montana parks and the players will be the men and women of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks with several upcoming performances scheduled in our area throughout the next several weeks.
Here is a look at their upcoming performances this summer that are less than an hour away from Butte.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2ND - "The Winter's Tale" in Dillon. 6pm at Legacy Plaza on the campus of the University of Montana-Western. Inclement weather location - Beer Hall on UMW campus.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 3RD - "Hamlet" in Deer Lodge. 6pm at the Old Montana Prison yard. Inclement weather location - Penn Convention Center
MONDAY, AUGUST 5TH - "Hamlet" in Helena. 6pm at Anchor Park. Inclement weather location - Helena High School Auditorium
TUESDAY, AUGUST 6TH - "The Winter's Tale" in Helena. 6pm at Anchor Park. Inclement weather location - Helena High School Auditorium
FRIDAY, AUGUST 30TH - "The Winter's Tale" in Philipsburg. 5:30pm at Winninghoff Park. Inclement weather location - Philipsburg Theater
SATURDAY, AUGUST 31ST - "Hamlet" in Anaconda. 5pm at Washoe Park. Inclement weather location - Fred Moodry Intermediate School.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND - "Hamlet" in Butte. 5:30pm at Stodden Park. Inclement weather location - Mother Lode Theater.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH - "Hamlet" in Boulder. 5:30pm at Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Inclement weather location - Loafing Barn at Fairgrounds.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH - "Hamlet" in Whitehall. 5pm at the Main Street Greens at Star Theater. Inclement weather location - Star Theater.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH - "A Winter's Tale" in Twin Bridges. 5:30pm at the soccer field at Riverside Park. Inclement weather location - Twin Bridges School Gymnasium.
All performances are free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis although folding chairs and higher-profile seats are asked to leave the areas closest to the front for people without chairs or with blankets. For further details and a complete list of performances, click here.
