The corner of Idaho and Broadway streets on Saturday night may resemble the corner of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco on any given night during the Summer of Love as one of Montana's premiere Grateful Dead tribute acts takes the stage at Butte's Covellite Theater. 710 Ashbury, a 4-piece band out of Helena will play at 7pm and they have been getting rave reviews all across Southwest Montana.

What many may not know is that Murphy's charitable work as the leader of the "Connecting for the Cancer Cure" golf tournament has lasted as long as her seat at the end of the Maroons bench. While trophies are not won for fundraisers, Murphy's annual event would be nothing less than a dynasty and the good that has come out of the last 17 years may be even more important than her state championships. Over those years, Connecting for the Cancer Cure has raised over $240,000 to help the St. James Cancer Center and their patients.

Monty Klistoff, the man behind the immensely popular "Fight Kingdom" series of boxing, kickboxing and MMA events that have rocked the Civic Center over the past several years, along with his crew from NXTGen Entertainment are bringing the show to the Old Montana Prison in Deer Lodge for an exciting fight card on July 13th. One that is eerily steeped in prison tradition.

As many of us prepare for a Mother's Day filled with breakfast buffets, afternoon brunches and even a special dinner, let's not forget about the less fortunate here in Butte. There are many for whom a lovely brunch is not a possibility. Many families are food insecure and may have nothing to eat at all.
